Not just yet.
The Court in New Jersey has determined that lawyers may not "fee-share" with online client services like Avvo or Rocketmatter. While this is not the case for divorce attorneys or any attorney for that matter in Illinois, it has certainly sparked an interest in the arrangements.
For example, clearly, attorneys are required to have trust accounts when handling client funds. Not so for fees generated from any fee sharing with one of these services. Additionally, these services raise numerous questions regarding ethics and practice. Along with the fee questions, attorneys can be given a relatively low ranking if they are not direct participants.
